A tumors worst nightmare
The goal of this senior design project was to develop a novel pressure injector and hypodermic needle that could be used to treat tumors and other infected tissues by combining the technologies of high pressure jet injectors with the utility of percutaneous needles into a compact hand-held device.
When operated by a doctor, the device first releases a short high pressure burst for the fluid/drug to propagate radially from the needle and into the tumor. Once the high pressure stage completes, the device is programmed to switch to a slower speed to allow the majority of the fluid to distribute and settle into the targeted area.
